Re: Engine case crash protection
Yes - they DO look nice. But, whilst the generator cap hole is finished well, the timing hole looks fluffy, and could have been finished better... Not a put down for you, but more of a ''quality control'' from the person who made it. A little bit of fibre-glass resin fed into the inside fluffy round...

Re: Chain & sprockets...
Ahh - And here was me thinking no one would have wanted my old front and rear sprockets. JT, standard teeth (16 front, 41 rear), and 9,500 miles on them. To me, there's life in them yet (although if you saw the pics you may disagree, but I reckon 500 miles minimum ) I did think about flashing them h...

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today
Spent 3 hours making a start on de-salting all that crap off the bike. Degreased stuff. Scraped other bits. Wiped and rubbed. Thought I was gonna wear me fingertips down to the bone. Gave up after making a decent start, and was too sore from laying on me back, head completely under the bike (nose al...

Re: What haynes manual
Sorry if this appears :hijacked:  I ended up selling my collection of Haynes, or giving them away to friends when they bought a particular bike. I've got a shelf full of Haynes bike manuals. Some are for bikes I've never even owned, but saw the manual at a boot sale/autojumble/charity shop an...

...it were that cold up here once, I decided to go to the garage and get me bike out for a crisp winter ride... ...I opened the garage door, and there were 2 Polar Bears sat trying to spark some welding rods together to warm the place up a bit... Baltic? I'd say... Even the balls on my brass monkey ...

As Mac wrote. Wear a snood to help warm the air as you breathe in and don't go venture to Antarctica. But....but, I do wear a face covering which also tucks into my jacket. There are no draughts at all. (it's a thermal Oxford bike balaclava). A snood buggers up me vision creating too much condensat...

Re: Changing wheel bearings tomorrow - quick bit of advice needed
Hellfire JCH - are you sure that's the remains of a wheel bearing? It looks more like what's left of a car after an IED has blown it up. No wonder you had a slight graunching noise! Nice new bearings (with PROPER round balls) will make the world of difference methinks! - it'll be a whole new r...

or....use another nut on top of the adjuster/lock nut. That way, the nut closest to the CCT cannot unwind again, as it meets the resistance of the one on top! Then, if you need to adjust, slacken off the top one a few turns, adjust original lock nut, tighten, and then tighten the above nut again. :t...

Maybe you've got a tired high miler. I dunno about that, but I've had a tired mile higher before. Cracking lass she was. All was going well...until she reached to grab something to steady with, but unlocked the door by mistake, pulled in a panic at the click, and we both fell into the aisle, trouse...

WOW - thank you all. At least you didn't come back with ''sell the house....it's really bad....I give it a week...and erm....can I have yer bike keys and boots before you bleed to death?!'' Vaseline is used in me nasal toobs on really cold days if I'm oot n' aboot on the bike. Step 3 Apply petroleum...
