I wish I had done this years ago but I was hesitant at taking the dremel to the fairing, but it isn't as bad as it sounds. Have some pictures somewhere which I'll search out.
Do it.
Re: vfr bars
I have recently bought some VFR bars for £25 off ebay.
Not fitted yet but I have placed one on the forks for comparison - see photo. Looks pretty promising to me, what do you reckon?

Re: Valve Clearances
Good stuff fella  Remember and do a few revolutions by hand before you fire her up. Thanks Jazzcot, I did turn her over a few times when I'd finished but I am quite some time away from firing her up. Seemed to turn over as normal. Guess I am just a little unsure about the CCT tension with ...

Re: Valve Clearances
Well, I took the plunge today....... Front inlet cam removed, two shims out and measured - luckily the RHS shim was just right to correct the LHS so I just needed to buy one shim - a bit pricey at £6.25 from the local Stealer but they had the right size in stock so I'll let them off :plainsmile Swa...

Re: Valve Clearances
Sorry, but I have another dumb question to ask............ :?: When I remove the original CCTs, bearing in mind I am replacing them with a pair of Bazza's Manual Converts , do I need to do anything with the central screw / locking tool (that I don't have) or can I just remove the two mounting bolts ...

How did you manage to get it up onto a workmate????
Photo is misleading....it's on a hydraulic bike bench, but sat on a piece of steel because the AbbaStand is wider than the bench.
Yes don't remove cam sprocket, with the CCT removed and the top guide off, there is enough slack to get the cam out complete.
Any precaution I need to take to ensure timing is not messed up - like cable tying chain to the exhaust cam sprocket etc...?

Yes don't remove cam sprocket, with the CCT removed and the top guide off, there is enough slack to get the cam out complete. No need for any gasket compound on the rubber seal, it is built to work dry and at low compression, just give it all a clean with some light oil and make sure the mikey mous...

Re: anyone know the knack ?
I found I had to bash the seat backwards while turning the key, but I found on here the cure. Just bend the loops that the hooks under the seat attach to, forward by about 3mm . Sorted, well it worked on mine! Re: anyone know the knack ? by AMCQ46 » Thu Jan 19, 2012 11:27 am I pull back on the str...

Re: Valve Clearances
Thanks for your replies. My bike is pretty stripped down (both cam covers and forks are off the bike), so taking on board what has been said I guess I'd be dumb not to............just a bit nervous about removing cam sprocket and camshaft. Guess I'll just take my time, work methodically and take the...

Valve Clearances
I have just checked my valve clearances (prior to doing manual CCT mod) and find that all are good.....except for the two front inlet valves that are right on bottom limit or slightly below - specified minimum is 5 thou, I get 5 thou on the RHS valve but only 4.5 thou on the left side. The bottom li...
