Re: Little bit more progress....

It was going so well. Took the swingarm out to check bearings and the ones in the rear cushion are knackered. Half of them fell out, the remains are pretty much welded into the cushion, so needs to replace it. Have put a post in the wanted section to see if anyone has anything. Got the swingarm back...

Rear shock cushion needed

Just when I was about to get it all back together and start putting bodywork on, found an issue..... Old bearings are not coming out of the part highlighted in the picture. So I need a new/used rear cushion. I'd already ordered bearings, collar and seals. Would rather not order the whole thing again...

Re: 60 or 70 profile front tyre

Should definitely be a 120/70x17. The 60 will have a slightly lower profile. 60% of 120 instead of 70%. I'd stick with a 70, but if you're not having any issues, it can probably wait until you next change it. Only issue I can think is if you ever had an incident and an insurance assessor noticed it ...

Re: Exhaust hangers

Not going to be making my own any time soon. Not got the tools for that to make anything that looks half decent.

May just have to stick with the standard ones for now.

Exhaust hangers

Looking for something like this :

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Exhaust-Hang ... SwV95bp5Kh

Trying to keep the costs low and can't really justify £85 on these ones!

Cheers

Re: Rear shock

I'd assumed that it would be a direct swap as it's built for that bike. But I emailed then while I was waiting on it being built and they told me it was worth changing the bearing on the bottom mount and that it was the same as the one for the standard shock. So I ordered the bearing! Think it must ...

Re: Rear shock

So I was initially told after I bought the shock that I should replace the lower mount bearing so I ordered one.

New shock has an internal bearing in the end eye so you don't need the standard one at all. The shock will bolt straight in as it is.

Glad it was only a few quid wasted for the bearing!

Rear shock

Ordered a new Nitron rear shock recently and was told it uses the original bearing. So ordered a new one. Ain't no way it's going to fit though as you can see in the picture. I've attached a screenshot of the parts fiche too. I ordered part 19. Should I have ordered part 5 instead that is the collar...

Re: Little bit more progress....

I know there are more budget ones available. Going to be doing a couple of track days on it though so wanted something better but not the mental expensive of Ohlins, etc.

Hopefully get it fitted soon.

Re: Little bit more progress....

It was £460 direct from Nitron. You can choose the weight of spring and it's colour at no extra cost. Then there are other things like remote preload you can add.

Re: Little bit more progress....

As much as I'd have loved Ohlins, WP, Penske, etc, they were about twice the price.

That would have taken me well over what the bike should be worth when it's finished.

Re: Little bit more progress....

The bike is black so knew this was the colour of spring to go for!

Chain & sprockets arrived today to, so got pretty much everything I need to get it running. Never fitted the bodywork yet though, so hopefully no bolts missing. Think I might be one indicator short, but that's easy enough to fix.

Re: Little bit more progress....

The picture doesn't quite show the truth! It's not the best cosmetically when you're close up. The forks and wheels are great as they've been painted. Calipers cleaned up good and there are a load of new bolts. Will sort the cosmetic stuff in the winter!

Re: Little bit more progress....

Doesn't take long to get the forks out and back in so will do it at some point. Going to have another look to see if I can find the cush rubbers before I go and order more!
