Anyone free to meet up at Ryka's, Box Hill tomorrow, Weds?

It looks to be the last dry day this week, so I'll head there tomorrow lunchtime. Anyone else free at short notice?

Re: VTR 1000 Good for the last hurrah?

as far as my aching joints are concerned, the storm is not the ideal bike for us elderly gentlemen, unless youre reasonably supple. which i'm not. however, i'm refusing to get rid of mine and trying to modify it to be more comfortable to ride. usual mods are flat bars and dropped pegs, but my probl...

Re: 2006 vtr1000f spark issue

Is the ignitor trigger plugged in that comes outa the clutch casing? easy overlooked It is the only connector on a Storm loom that can be connected to the wrong place. All of the other connectors are a unique size or shape, but the ignition trigger and the orange light of death connector lh side of...

Otherwise, bring the KTM, it'll be a laugh seeing that launch. Good luck with finding the parts.

Re: Xmas present to myself

Update: I found something to do: the couch to 5k.
I already had the " couch" part nailed.

Ran (well, jogged) my first 5k without stopping today.
Bloody hard work, this relaxing lark!

Re: Problem with old VTR 1000

I haven't come across a repairer for these but you should be able to find a secondhand set easily enough.

If you can read the resistor, you can simply solder one on as a bridge for the blown one. Of course, if the fault still exists, you might blow the replacement, too.

Re: 1997 Rebuild gone bad

Not wishing to throw a spanner in the works of Tony's reply, but when you did the compression test was the engine turning over at the right speed then? If not then you would get a low reading. Have you fitted manual cam chain tensioners? Chris. Fair point, Chris, it could make a difference. Best re...

Re: 1997 Rebuild gone bad

The only other part of the circuit is the earth lead, so check that there's no corrosion where it mounts to the rear of the engine. Given your low compression and the improvement with oil in the bores it seems very likely that you need a rebore, new pistons and rings. That's not a big deal, and is e...

Re: Servicing Ohlins electronic forks

Part 4- refilling the oil and reassembling the leg Refilling the oil: For my bike the oil level was 181mm from the top of the upper tube, with the leg compressed but the spring and preload tube removed. Check what's required for your model; it might be different. Slightly overfill with oil- mine nee...

Re: Servicing Ohlins electronic forks

Part 3: strip down The top of each fork has the electrical connector- they are apparently fragile, so be careful how you disconnect them. Push the small tab in and pull the connector off. Now check (and record) how many rings are showing above the top yoke! After that, unwind the preload nut (you wi...
