Paul Hanson After the initial login it's redirecting to https which isn't configured on port 80. Go to the address bar when it fails and take off the s from https i.e. turn https://www.vtr1000.org:80/phpBB3/index.php? into http://www.vtr1000.org:80/phpBB3/index.php?

Malc Sampson well that sort of works, wait for page to not load, muck about to get the S in the right place, take it out then it goes in, go to look at a post and it doesn't load again, take out the S and it goes to the post but has logged you out... That's no good...See More

As a Gentleman of a certain age and experience I'm surprised you entertained it at all Alan. Good on you for giving it a go.

Thanks to Mac for the heads-up on this. I thought it was just me as nobody else had posted up about any problems, I hadn't realised that was because you were having difficulties in logging-in lol.

I've notified the site owner.

When trying to log-in and your browser times out something like this below, if you open another tab for this site you should find yourself logged in:-

There is something going on as I have had issues since earlier today and I believe it's something to do with the secure connection. I can get to the login page as normal via my bookmarked url but as soon as I hit the login button and the page reloads I get the following.

Image

But as soon as I delete all the erroneous crap after the .org in the url in my address bar and reload the page it loads OK and shows me as logged in securly. I also noticed the secure connection fail notice after sending a PM but as soon as I hit my browser back button and then check my PM box I can see it got sent. Interestingly the warning notice has 80 after the .org in the url which suggests it's trying to use port 80 therefore insecure....standard http rather than https which is port 443. I believe the issue is with the https certificate and the way it's set up.

That seems to be it at the moment. As you say, even though it appears not to have been posted it has,

That's what I'm getting if I use Firefox browser:-

This has been going on for a few days now. Basically all the links are https (secure) with port 80 at the end (:80). If you click on the link and then go up to the address bar and remove the :80 (insecure http) the link will work fine. A bit of a faff I know. Al should be aware of it and no doubt sort it out some time.

Hee hee...where there's a will there's a way for us techies. It's a bit unfortunate for those that are not. Strange how it's suddenly changed to act like this though. Very frustrating.
