PAIR/PCV Mod

Post by Ace VenTRa »

I had a little time recently to try a mod that is done on CBR's commonly and thought I'd share it.

On the CBR it's a really easy affair to redirect the PCV to the PAIR. In doing this you reduce the internal airbox temps which I find to be around 107f normally and you still get a positive crankcase vent but without drawing vapor into the airbox. All you need to do is make an "S" shaped hose that runs from the PCV outlet in the valve cover to the PAIR inlet in the valve cover, then cap off the airbox and remove the hoses from the inside. Airbox temps are lower and the drivability is better somehow, maybe a "cleaner" feel to it is the word I'm looking for. Anyway, the CBR stunt crowd claims a 4 hp gain, I'll find out soon and report back.

Since the last dyno run I went down 2 jet sizes in the to a 180 DJ and 5! in the front to a 165 DJ. Incredible difference, I'm shocked at how little jetting I need and how rich it was running.
