Thanks mate, yes I put the stoppers in a while ago. I had already bought new autos so thought I'd do the stopper rather then spend more on manuals ;-)

cybercarl wrote:Thank you very much Hawk Nice to have that confirmed, most appreciated. I did try the fatory pro approach and I'm not sure it made that much difference. Plugging 1 hole in each slide I will try next, I am running two long stacks. I'm hoping plugging a hole will also slow the slides down a bit and stop them coming on so soon.

Plugging a lift hole is normally done with the short stack and aftermarket stacks as those are the ones that get the slides bouncing and\or opening too quickly.
I normally run the stock 2 lift holes with the long stacks but I haven't had a lot of experence running to 2 long set up, so it is worth a try to see how if works.

Stripped my carbs down to clean out now putting them back together and noticed a 1 stamped into one carb cap and a 2 stamped in the other. Are the carbs numbered 1 and 2? Just want to check they are on the right ones as there were some washers missing from work by previous owner when he dynojetted it.

When you say cap I presume you mean the Plastic diaphragm cap on the sides. I can't say I have seen any numbers stamped on them before, and it should not matter which one goes on which carb as they are identical as far as know.

With regards to washers/shims you should have two. One under the needle and one on top under the spring.

Carl if I jack up the needles with a packer washer (instead of buying an adjustable needle) is it the bottom or top washer I 'pack'?

If you are going to shim the original needles you can only put them underneath which raises the needle to richen.

I'm not sure how this will work if you put larger mains in and run the K&N filter.

As for the diaphragm caps, if that is the part you were talking about, I have never seen them numbered either.

when a dyno jet kit is fitted and the extra hole is drilled in the slide as mine is would it be best to plug it ?
I also have billet stacks and a modded airbox and a 2-1 exhaust .

Too small to see properly, can you make it bigger, and with more horsepower and torques?

Love that kick at 10,0000 where it suddenly develops 30bhp more. That must be a handful in the wet......

It's still running very rich after 4K, though.
Mains?
