I don't mind the upkeep; it's not overly labour intensive and unless on crap roads they do stay good.

Fair point about the older alloy.
A good metallurgist would probably define the British and USA alloy mixes as far superior to the Japanese compromise for price. This is just my feeling; I have no complaints about my various Honda parts, but I'd see this as the declining quality of everything from farm produce to marriage vows!
