Whilst changing the cam adjusters,with the Mileage on my bike a genuine 10000, one mechanic says, change the timing chain [ s ] other chap says no need, owing to the very low mileage, any thoughts ?

Leave the chains alone.....and find a new mechanic.... :beer:

without being rude ,the guys that told you that need there brains washed out,, change them or you will suffer :thumbup:
the older i get,the faster i was :lol:

So......are you saying, change the Chains, or just the adjusters ??

Best replace the auto CCTs with manual tensioners - and no need to change timing chains.

like everybody has said, the chains will last the life of the bike. I have no idea why any mechanic thinks that they need changed at 10,000 miles!

the CCT, is a risk, and strangely the risk looks to be worse if the bike is not used much.

Yes, change the ccts but leave the chain alone.

I've just been playing with a set of Ade Whitmarsh's ones, they're very fiddly as the dome nut is 17mm and the locknut is only 15mm. You can't slide a 15mm ring spanner onto the locknut. Because the locknut is partially obstructed by the fixing cap heads, you can't get a 15mm open ended spanner fully onto the locknut.
The open end spanner can only partially engage on the nut, increasing the chance of it rounding off.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
