I Recently buggerd up the timing when i did the CCT job my self
had to get a mobile mevhanic out, he was ace took the bike away and braught it back day after timing now seems to be spot on but he said i may have damaged the valves when i rode it with the timing slighty out, as it felt like it droped onto one cyclnder and was horrible to ride.
it feels like there isnt as much compresion and tourqe as there used to be, and when i sut off there appears to be no engine breaking at all. any idea what causes this? is it a valve/vales's
he said he will srip the engine and look at it for 200 quid, which i think is prity awasome.
any ideas people?
thanks
(bikes done 15,000 miles)

Re: NO ENGINE BREAKING AND A LOUD TICKING WHEN SHUT OFF
IT'S BROKEN, stop riding it immediately and get it looked at, or you'll completely lunch the engine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope this helps, Chris.

Did he swap the engine for a two stroke while it was being serviced?
But yeah, it does sound pretty serious. I'm thinking valves too.

Re: NO ENGINE BREAKING AND A LOUD TICKING WHEN SHUT OFF
As jonesey’s said if you have any doubt don’t ride it
But before you start going in to a full panic check the valves are bent yourself
Use the thread in the workshop section on setting the timing
When the timing marks on the crank and the timing sprockets on the came are lined up check the gap between the cam lobes and the cam followers using a set of feeler gauges if any are showing a very large gap then the valves are probably bent
Valve clearances are 0.13to19 mm for the inlet and 0.28to 34 for the exhaust
If your getting a reading of say 0.40mm for one of the exhaust valves its probably bent
If the valves are bent it will be a lot cheaper to do the work yourself than to pay some one for there time
Valves are about £16 per valve
Head gaskets are £30 each
Exhaust gaskets are a couple of quid each
Also on top of that the cost of an oil change and anti-freeze
And the advice is free

Re: NO ENGINE BREAKING AND A LOUD TICKING WHEN SHUT OFF
ive just had new oil and oil filter and new coolant.
im gona let this D.Hill do the work i dont think hes a rip off he re timed the bike for 95 quid, came my house picked it up and droped it back off to so cant grumble at that.
ive been out for a blast but think im just gona ride easy to college tommorw then back home and park it up again.
he quoted 200 quid to do the work witch is a lot less than ESB at 600 quid plus parts. and hes worked on that Firestorm of Frtiz (from Rivi Barn Fourm)
just gona save up then have him sort my botched up DIY mechanics
