A wee note of thanks ref "elecrical prob or not"
Just like to say a big thank you to all who gave advice on the problem I have had with the bike.I now know the problem was with the shop I purchased it from last September, they had been into the engine and had not put it back together correctly. Thus leading to the point at the moment,"replacement engine".
I have never known so many people willing to help when they don't even know me.So a real big thanks.
Hopefully soon my bike will be sorted and I,m back on the road when & if money allows, and I hope to get the chance to meet some of you.
Mark.

Just a shame aboot the hassle you've had with yer bike ,hopefully it'll all be in the past soon and you actually get to use it before the summer ends .

Can you not fit a Storm fairing on the Bandit?
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Re: A wee note of thanks ref "elecrical prob or not" UPDAT
Well you all know the hassle I have had with this 1998 (18k miles) bike. The garage just called to say they will drop it off tomorrow night. hurrah !!
The bad news is its costing more than double what they thought
...they gave me an estimate of around 4 hrs work (£150.ish),but they have now told me that with having a problem getting a sheared exhaust bolt out which took them 3hrs alone to drill out and re tap the hole !! 6hrs for the engine fit !! and extras for taking the carbs, airbox and fitting (supplied) manual tensioners & other small parts off from my old engine I'm looking at maybe 10hrs plus a MOT.
Why does never rain but it pours?
F**k sake man I must have spent around a grand on this f**kin bike just to find out what was wrong with it and then get it fixed :mad2 .Sometimes when your so far in with something like this its non sensible to stop, you know what I mean? .I just hope its wombles worth it!
not pleased at all.....

Hi Mark,
I hope the rest goes well. I've sent you a little refund on that engine for the bolt. I really didn't think it would be that much trouble. So have an hour and a half back...
Let us know how it goes.

Martyn,
You didn't have to do that & that was very, very kind of you.
But I will admit that every little penny helps at the moment.Much appreciated mate for the kind gesture.
Thanks.

Re: A wee note of thanks ref "elecrical prob or not"
Having just changed my engine over, ten hours seems about right, sadly.
If they got the bolts out holding the engine into the frame they did better than I did!
Although mine took a whole weekend, I also had to strip a cylinder head off the old engine and add it to the replacement one, do the cam timing and shims, etc.
So I'd guess that if it was a simple swap over it could be done in ten hours start to finish.
Pay the money and then thrash the gonads off it, just to show it who's boss.
