Hi everyone, I thought I would say hello.
I am picking up my completely standard, near mint condition 98 Storm on May 29th, and I feel like a giddy teenager again!!
I have been riding in-line 4's for my entire riding career, until my test ride on Wednesday. If I am totally honest I didnt know what to expect from the twin... begger me it was chuffin amazing, I have not felt torque like that before!
You can safely say I got the bug, so I put a deposit on it straight away. I dont know too much about the pitfalls if any of the Firestorm. If anyone could give me some tips and advice on what to look out for, I would be very greatful.
Cheers folks,
Taylormade.

Get some piccy's up

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
Re: VTR Virgin!!!
welcome onboard.
Like tony said, lots of good info in the workshop & knowledgebase. the search tool will help you find loads, and you will feel like you know your Storm before you get it..............well you need something to keep you occupied while you wait!.
bike has very few flaws, but 2 that should be checked are :
1) CCT's are they already replaced, or modified with manual or stoppers.
and
2) the Reg / rec has a habit of failing and taking out the battery.
good luck with all the reading and come back with any questions as most folks here enjoy spreading their hard earned knowledge

AMcQ has covered the two main issues with the Firestorm as above, so bear in mind those two, (if it has a finned rectifier that should be OK) then just check the normal things that you would when buying any bike. Like chain & sprockets, tyres, steering head bearings, fork seals, rear shock seal and that the rear suspension moves up and down without any squeaks as the linkage bearings need regular greasing, especially if used through the winter. Also check swingarm for play, brake pads, and wheel bearings, there's probably more but you're most likely familiar with most of those anyway.
Good luck with it and do keep us posted,
Chris.
