Bike cam

Just bought one of these for transferring the videos off to the pc / laptop

So toying with the idea, of a slot around the memory card for card removal without taking the case apart then no need to keep plug / unplugging the transfer cable on rides. Only limit will be the memory card size for recording.

George, what output settings do you use when youve edited your video, ready for upload to youtube? Ive been using wmv, but yours seem so much clearer than mine when played back from y tube. Playing back streaming to the xbox on the tv, its the same quality as original footage, but youtube seems to nick some quality

I use CyberLink PowerDirector 8 which has an "Upload to youtube" section built in. All I do is edit the video, click produce and then choose the YouTube options. It also has a Facebook option too.

I thought the mike was on top.

It would no longer be waterproof though and if you did get caught in the rain, wheres the water gonna go?

i was planning on bit of gaffa / elephant tape stuck over the mem card slot when using on the bike. as for been water proof, that goes outa the window if i drill other side to power off the transfer cable. dunno wot to do for best really. could always get spare case, and put camera in that on iffy days. I think thats gunna be the plan of attack. gunna have a look online for that software now, cheers, never tried cyberlink stuff

My plan is to leave the camera as is. Get someone electrical to hook up a cigarette lighter socket thingy. get a USB power thingy and then use my USB battery charger to charger batteries on the go.

Would that work?

Hmm wots the point to be honest, you might as well invest the extra money in some more batteries to carry with you, and charge at home. If you was to be away for several days , then yes that would be a good idea

i just use the (crap) windows moviemaker - works ok but is a bit slow.
noticed youtube now you can add up to 8gb files - but still only 10 mins>??? wtf?
how can you get a 8gb 10 minute clip lol unless it's the size of a cinema screen!

the charge socket will be usefull - you can also use it for charging & jumpstarting the bike if you wire it straight to the battery.
you'd be able to take a netbook with you and upload vids as you go, clearing the sd card.

i wouldn't drill the case myself though, takes less than 30 secs to change batteries and sd card - yo'd be pissed off if the cam got wet & ruined, or if a bug crawled in and sat on the lens, ruined your masterpiece on the twisties
plus i reckon it would make the sound worse if you opened up the case/

I have, it was a two disc ultra version i got hold of

Really liking the direct uploading to youtube, after youve put in your details, justset it going, and off to bed, leave it to shut down windows.... next day vid ready on youtube :)


What rechargeables are you using now by the way, and wot life you get outa them?

Oh. And the energizer rechargeable batteries work ok. They don't last as long as the ultimates though. You get about 1h 30m of footage.

It must be the heat. They were shite in the cold.

They are quite unpredictable though. They stopped unexpectedly when it started raining. I'm convinced its a temperature thing.

I carry some lithium ones with me just in case.

I put all four on change the night before I use them.

Lol, i run out of video to edit, not been out , i have really bad man flu.....The video i tested was the same one i uploaded just with different music, that was all, just to test lol. Gunna try get out after dinner, then will have some editing to do
