last night on the a44 a car driven by a local druggie with his best mate and 3 16 year old girls in it crashed into a lake killing the best mate and one of the girls. the two lads i knew from when my mum lived in the same street for a while and one of the surviving girls is my brothers ex's niece the other 2 her best mates, they all grew up in the same area as me and the missus they went to the same secondary school and had the same opportunity's yet the lad went down the route of drugs and then decide to take 3 16 year old girls out and his best mate for a spin round the back roads killing his best mate and one of the girls, apparently they were all stoned, how can lives go in such opposite directions
now to the point of this post:
is it bad that i feel no sympathy what so ever for any of them? lets face it they knew the risks and they all got in a car with a driver who is a known stoner and was well stoned by all accounts.
is it worse i feel even less sympathy for the girls parents? what the hell were they doing leaving them to go out spinning with some lad at that time of night, when i started seeing the mrs she was 17 i was 19 and she was still living at her mum an dads, during the week i had to have her home by 10 and 12 weekends, when it come to meeting them they knew just about everything there was to know about me they had done a lot of asking around to find out who i was what i did for a living who i hung around with and weather or not i was the sort to get into hassle. this was only 3 years ago and i didnt really mind as i thought it was good they were looking out for their daughter,
is it the norm for people to let their 16 year old daughters out all hours doing god knows what with god knows who, or is my experience more the norm?
and is it just me from a purely selfish point of view that thinks "twats" the police are going to be very high profile a44 now after this, and the rest of us are going to suffer for it.

no you're right bud, tragic but thats the way it is eh.
woman i was seeing had a 16yo daughter, so i went and got her a car to get her through her test so she wouldn't be tempted into idiot's cars if she had her own....
she passed her test and is now free.... and alive.
the amount of cars i passed yesterday with weed smoke coming out the windows (especially coming out of creamfields) was unbelievable... and plod choose to targer undersize numberplates instead
young drivers should be on a curfew imo unless they are commuting to & from work. crouton em.
it'd be a damn shame if they put cameras and speed ramps on the 44 - it's as close to a gp track as you will find in the uk imo.
sorry to hear this so close to your kin btw.

You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

Re: stupid kids and even worse parents
I saw it on the news Jonesy and thought of the families involved, all for young boys showing off....As for the girls, I used to have quite strict rules for my 2 girls, now nearly 23 and 26yrs old, god I feel old...I found out years later of the kind of antics, mostly harmless fun they got up to behind my back and I never knew, but isn't that kids all over? Kids will try to do allsorts to get out later on an evening, although my girls were in and I knew they were safe of an evening. Girls and lads, will make up allsorts of stuff like I'm just finishing up studies/homework/projects and will be back shortly etc..Going to the pictures/disco/etc etc...Did nobody on here ever tell a fib about where they were or why they late? I once told my mam they didn't have a clock! FFs, what on earth was I thinking!! I was 15 and well late. Another time I went out around 9pm and asked mam for the key, to be told "you won't need it, you'll be in by 11pm"...
I used to creep out with my sister when we lived in Whitely Bay and I was in High School and we used to go partying till god knows what time, and creep back in...It was the early 80's and We never used drugs, were around anyone who took drugs and apart from drinking when 16 etc but like I say, don't kids try it on all the time. So maybe those girls crept out, maybe they made up some sort of "I'm staying over at such and suchs"and parents thought it on the level...kids are cunning and I think as history goes, it will always be the case.
It is sad that they fell into that trap and got caught up/dragged along with a lad they were obviously either trying to impress or wanted to date and sad they lost thier lives to it. It happens all the time and still, no lessons are learnt from it from others, unless they were actually involved and survived, as it seems this is the only way they get the message!

If you want to sleep at night
NEVER EVER
look at your kids' facebook pages or read their moby texts.
Or feed them, or drive them places, or help them with their homework, or let them record rubbish on your Sky Plus, or let them play your vinyl, or borrow a CD, or have a go on your bike.
Keep them away from your disco mixing desk, 'cause they'll show you up, and don't let them paint their own bedroom.
Sleepovers will just keep everyone in the house awake, because even though they promise to be quiet it's a physical impossibility, and shouting at them only makes it worse.
Don't let your kids borrow any of your tools.
They won't clean out any pet you buy them, no matter what they promise, and it'll be dead within weeks.
Mine have just turned 16.........
