Aldi Welders!

Post by mattster »

Hey folks,

Incase anyones interested, Aldi have welders back in stock tomorrow - http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers/sp ... _15678.htm

They usually only have 1 or 2 per store, so get down early.

Yep - they ain't going to be good enough to weld that cracked frame back together, but should be good enough for my little VTR-Luggage-Carrier Project.

That's a great buy ,and remember you're near Ayrshire Steels stockist ,if you feel confident enough to fabricate an 'Abba' stand ,there's a list of what's needed somewhere on here if you do a search.

they are also doing these ----- http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers/sp ... _15680.htm
soldering station for 5.99
quite a bargain imo, and you don't have to connect them to a pylon either.
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

Yep, your right. No plug.

My Dads fitted a 13A domestic to his and its fine.

Just bought one, so will report when I get round to using it what it's like.

they also had a magnetic older set, two two-foot mag strips, for screwdrivers or spanners, and a couple of trays to keep bits in check.

All for £8.99!

(I love a new toy, me).
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

yeah, I couldnt resist a new toy either, so bought one today. It says you should run it on a 30amp round pin socket, but I have put a 13A plug on it and it has run ok with a 2mm rod at up to 100A. I didnt try it with the 4mm at 160A, the book says it will pull 20amps for that, so I would expect it to blow a fuse then, but I dont expect to be welding things that thick...............and if I do I have no problems fitting a 30 amp spur as the consumer unit is just at the back of the garage........I would tap it onto the trip for the immersion heater, as we never use that.

For the price the welder looks good, and I managed to run some good welds once I remembered how  ..........so I need a project now!
