wont start

picked a vtr up yesterday,2 different plugs in it rear carb main jet blocked,front carb idle jet blocked,put it back together,broke throttle position sensor turns over wont start,any ideas,going to try and find new part mon morning.Thanks in advance

it will still start with a broken throttle position sensor - all it does is help calculate ignition advance, along with the advance rotor and coolant sensor.
copy the workshop manual from the workshop section link, honda moto site or carlsalter.com, same manual.
i guess you know what you ar doing if you have got this far - is it sparking?
if it is sparking and won't start, and there is compression, then you have a fuelling fault.
a common doh is to put the vacuum line back on the wrong stub on the fuel tap, assuming it's a early one with 16l tank?
try undoing the drain screw at the bottom of the float bowl and see if there is fuel in there... if not, it's probably the vac pipe from the rear cylinder inlet - swap the 2 6mm hoses over on the tank

I have a feeling it is vacum related,turning over no smell of fuel,there is a vacum pipe type of fitting near front carb should this have a vacum pie on it as well as rhe one on the back?.

if its open and does not go anywhere then just blank it(this one is used for carb balancing) the rear one goes to the fuel tap and starts and stops the flow of fuel.

now sorted ,it was a vac pipe that had fell off the fuel tap and hid itself in the engine cavity.Thanks for the help.

i just read your pm, sorry couldnt get back to you earlier, been mad busy at work today and only just got back in.
always worth posting here first before you panic - chances are someone's had the same problem... that's a really common one lol, usually when the tank's been off.

get out for a ride sometime - if we get a dry one

the vac pipe for the fuel tap is taken from the rear cylinder, under the carb - you can just see it from the left side if you shine a torch under the carb.
the one on the front is most probably where a previous owner had a scottoiler fitted, or was used to balance the carbs.
it shouldn't be left open though...
if you can get at it it's worth attaching a length of 6mm hose to it for when you get round to balancing the carbs, and cap it off when not in use.
