Auction Sniper?
Auction Sniper?
Anyone use one of the many tools that enable a cheeky win on ebay? I looking tried and tested only, not happy giving details to a none tested site.
Thanks in advance.

Beamish, may be I've got this wrong having never used such a tool (in which case I stand to be corrected), but surely, regardless of what piece of software you use to get in the last possible bid it still comes down to who is prepared to pay the most for the sale item
If that is the case then there's no point in bothering with a sniper or the likes IMHO, when you can place your maximum bid (blind to others) anytime before the auction ends.
Chris.

Re: Auction Sniper?
That's pretty much it, but where they do work is if someone else is prepared to pay over the odds for an item. If you use the snipe tool it wont give the other bidder time to put in a second bid if their first one is under yours. It also means YOU stick to your budget and dont go bidding mad.sirch345 wrote:Beamish, may be I've got this wrong having never used such a tool (in which case I stand to be corrected), but surely, regardless of what piece of software you use to get in the last possible bid it still comes down to who is prepared to pay the most for the sale item![]()

Saying that, I dont use them myself but the wife has used them for bidding on things in the middle of the night when she's asleep.

Re: Auction Sniper?
Quite true Chris but these tools enable you to put in your maximum bid at the last possible moment hopefully enabling a win before your opposing bidders get chance to up the ante. Of course if they have already commited to a higher final bid they will still win. The sniper helps you keep the price low until the last moment. Its not fool proof but can score you some real bargains without you having to be online.sirch345 wrote:Beamish, may be I've got this wrong having never used such a tool (in which case I stand to be corrected), but surely, regardless of what piece of software you use to get in the last possible bid it still comes down to who is prepared to pay the most for the sale item![]()

Re: Auction Sniper?
Afraid not but it was one of the sniping websites she used. Won a couple of things with it as well so it did work.

Re: Auction Sniper?
IN NO WAY DO I ADVOCATE THE USE OF THE FOLLOWING
just before the end of the auction place a ridiculous bid say 15 mins before end.
Then you retract the bid entering that you entered an incorrect amount, you then know what the maximum bid is.
wait until 15 secs before end then enter an amount just over that amount... et voila....its yours but dont cut it too fine say if the bid is 100 quid stick in £112....works for me. saves a bidding frenzy...

You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.
Re: Auction Sniper?
Ive used lotsnipe for a couple of years now.
you get three free snipes a week when you register.
you can pay for extra snipes that go in 2-3 seconds before auction end but ive never botherd.
lotsnipe works really well to keep the price down if not many people have bid.
you still stick to your budget and dont get into a bidding war.

I take it you lost out on a couple of auctions due to the attentions of this type of software.

Re: Auction Sniper?
I think Benny's right. Play fair, or don't play at all.
After all, if some of us don't score cheap bits every so often we won't have stock to help people out at reasonable prices when you need bits in a hurry.

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Some pent up frustration here, I suspect the missus is withholding privileges because he failed to win some auction for her.benny hedges wrote:people who use this aren't people.
