wish i hadnt started!

Post by benny hedges »

i'm sure you've been there.... one of them jobs that seems like a good idea but after a few hours elbow grease it's like oh bollox, wish i hadn't started!!

i had my wheels in black last year, sprayed over the original silver... re-did them in black but today decided they'd look better in white, to match the rest of the bike (which is coming on btw)
since 8am ive managed to sand one side of one wheel back to silver lol... no skin left on my fingers, so i thought ah, thinners, that'll get it off.
it does, but it's also turned all the dust back to black paint and i now look like a person of ethnic origin. :(

i thought about getting them powder coated but there's no way i'll get a match for the paint (it's that bright lol)
so theyre getting done in 2 pack once ive got the tyres off...

wish i hadnt bothered lol, it would've been much easier to just dust over them with satin black!

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

mate use nitromorse, brush it in and it will bubble everything off to bare alloy, then you can start fresh. thats what im doing with the pair of wheels i recently purchased off here.... And also what i did with my old ones. I just nitro`d my tank ready for respray too. its a lovely shiny metal colour, Looks really cool, but it wouldnt stay like that for long outside in the elements. Nitromorse em, and you`ll have it all off in bout an hour per rim

you know what, i'm thick as crouton.
ive got 1/2 a 5l tin of nitromors on the shelf. doh!

cant spray them yet tho as theyve still got good tyres on.

also just realised, as the bike is still hung from the roof by the subframe and i have no front stand, i will have to fit the rear wheel back on, wheel the bike out to turn it round, put it on the rear stand to get the back wheel off again, then hang it from the front to get the front wheel off.

the forks and yokes need repainting anyway.
also noticed a bit of a knock from the headstock bearings, which are new, so looks like they need re-tensioning.
apart from all this, there's not a lot left to do to it, but only aiming to put it back on the road end of april.

sadly this means i will have no bike to ride for a few weeks as the tax runs out on the kwak end of march....
there is a logical reason for this :silent:

What's Paul MCartney and Red Bull got in common?

They both give you wings.

(walks off, humming "Banned on the run".....)

Been there, done that :(
