or you could sock them in costic soda i think thats how its spelt

Don't soak them in caustic soda, it'll take all the chrome off the outside.
The old trick for decoking two stroke exhausts was to cork up one end then fill it with a caustic soda solution.
Leave it too long and it'll rot through...
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

My wife tried to clean an old ally saucepan with caustic, it ate its way right through :eek2

Must admit I was waiting for it to come out of the end he was sitting on.......
