Welcome aboard S/V I must say i do like the look of your bike
Regarding the fan, it could be the sensor switch or the fan itself or (as you say) the thermostat. You could trying by- passing the switch just to see that the fan works OK first. I take it, it does turn freely although don't put your fingers on the blades with the ignition switched on.
Normally the fan only cuts-in at a certain temperature, which I expect you realise.
Hi chris....
Was gonna sort a seperate switch for the rad fan, easier in heavy traffic.......
Vapor Speedo is calibrated to show max temp at 115c..(can be adjusted),theres an amber-warning light and a red- "too hot "light ,these have both come on and rad fan still wont kick in.....is the speedo temp calibration too low? im not sure what the running temp for rad fan is??? or the engine running temp ???.............input welcome fellas
If it's the temp sensor that's faulty, try a local breaker, as they're the same on a number of other Hondas.
They can be a bit temperamental, though, I've changed mine twice before and i's playing up again now.
Time for an over-ride switch.
BTW, the SP1 oil cooler is a four-row rather than the two-row Storm one, and fits straight on.
That would help a bit if you're only running one rad.
Just doing that conversion on mine, but as the Storm lines are solid pipes and always go rusty I'm having braided lines made up.
Advantage is that one of the bolt holes lines straight up, and the second one just needs a small bracket, so it's easier to fit that an Earl's or other make one.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
I'm not 100% sure what the temp is meant to be for the fan to cut in, but I'll ask Firestorm Mike if he knows.
cheers chris.....
And tony, good idea for the sp1 cooler....bike will be in for service in a week or so,ill be checking
all the options with the mechy .....
Like the look of that tail!!
I've got a spare Speed Triple top fairing if your interested?
It looks like there is already a larger oil cooler on it in one of the pics? Looks it has been mounted low down behind the front exhaust mani??
Yea i did wonder what that was snoogle,so thats the oil cooler,so im thinking this is just a taller version of the original?,still learning the bike and bikes in general...like we ever stop..
Can do basic service stuff but thats as far as my knowledge goes, need to get my hands dirty one day, only way to learn eh.
Post a pic of the fairing mate ill have look....
