As I understood it the MoT can't fail you on loud ones, just issue an advisory.
But they can fail you if there's leaks or loose bits.

there's no dB meter used on a MOT, so that's all they can do.

What no-one's mentioned is the weight saving?
Standard ones, even with debaffling, are horribly heavy, compared to carbon (Mmmmm, lovely carbon) ones.....
