Top tip... Garden spade with the wheel on the blade end and bike on paddock stands. Sit on the handle which lifts the wheel up into position.

Now that really is a top tip, I will remember that for next time..

This is a disgraceful thread hijack, the first post is about a satnav mount, and look where we all took it.
I'm ashamed of myself; and you should be, too.

Anyway, I left mine alone, as a reward for it doing so well recently.

re the rear wheel.... i just put my boot under it and lean back as i line the spindle up - makes it real easy - you can jog the wheel back onto your foot then push it forward.

i just attempted a temporary repair on my weekend fail. (snapped chain and smashed engine casing)

i cleaned up the area with a router bit, down to rough ally then drilled a load of holes and popped self tappers in to grip half a kilo of plastic metal.
still got to build it up a bit yet then retap it all proper and see if it holds.
the holes that were still left i drilled 15mm deeper and retapped to accept stainless m6 threaded bar.
should be ok tbh.
also noticed the clutch pushrod is a bit bent and pitted where it goes through the seal.... anyone got one spare?

picking up another engine tomorrow night which i intend to rebuild completely to a better spec than this one.... tony mon has kindly sent a sprocket cover to replace the broken one (cheers matey - top chap!)

got 4 fixings in with longer threaded holes and longer bolts - good as its going to get til i build a new engine.
you can see the damage it's done to the steel plate that sits under the casing

riveted up another chain - not fitting the new chain & sprox though til the new engine is in, new pistons, powder coated etc... and the pyramid belly is going back on.
will let the skidmarx one go shortly

Finally took brace, swingarm and caliper mount into the welders.
Two weeks until it's done, so won't be ready before Derby w/e.

it came off a bike with front end damage.. the lad was tpft so decided to fix it himself.... went to a honda dealer and was quoted £900 for new fork stanchions and bottom yoke!!!

needless to say he broke the bike instead.... still had a few bits left but nawt i needed... he was saying he bought a job lot of new scooter panels though 750 off them... £50 if i wanted them!
i wont be building the new motor until the pistons turn up, gaskets, bearings, shells etc... cant do the shells til ive seen which ones are in atm.
think i'll fit new rings as well though instead of reusing mine, seeing as the bores are different and virtually zero wear.

Fitted the Gilles rearsets that I just bought off one of the other guys one here......bit fiddly to get the brake master cyl to line up correctly, had to put 2mm spacer under the pivot bearing, but looks the dogs baldrocks and I can't wait to try them out

i kept the original switch and drilled a little hole in the side for the spring, works good enough for the mot

The Gilles ones come with a mounting ring for the original switch and a hole drilled for a spring, and all I needed to do was lengthen the STD spring to get it all working. Impressive design and manufacturing quality on these I have to say.

Still trying to work out if the exhaust mount on the LH side is missing, or is nor part of the design. Having found some PDF instructions on the web, it looks like it only offers RH mount. At the moment I have left the off both sides as I don't think they are needed.

Just waiting for the carbon heel plates to complete the bling.

considering gold wasn't your first choice, how do you feel about the colour now they are on the bike?

the gold colour looks good with the yellow bike and black belly pan. ................ would look better in titianium, but gold is good

will send pictures when heel plates are in. but good news is it wasnt missing 1 exhaust mount, they only provide one on the brake side, no provision on gear side!

If your not sure on the gold then ya could always get them powdercoated or anodised to a colour ya like. Not sure how easy either would be considering the complex shapes.

bit clunky into first gear like, maybe cos ive just changed oil and its been dry for a week....
seems ok though.
off out on it in a bit assuming it doesnt lash down as soon as i get leathers on!

Stripped out the MIg high levels and cut out the rear baffles.

Much louder, more satisfying and I no longer have a bike with a louder intake than exhaust.

Only downside is no more trackdays, it certainly won't pass a noise test now.

But I'm getting big backfires whenever I slow down, so tomorrow I'll have a look for air leaks.
