I'm not a sparky etc but am often dubious of cheap!

Would you buy a dirt cheap r/r from China - or is it likely to be a false economy as cheap = shite?

Just fitted a finned r/r from a 98 blade. One thing though, the connector block as you look at it front on has evidence of burning on top left connector - everything runs fine, so i'm guessing it is just overheating caused by the stock r/r and nothing more sinister?

It will have had a loose connector; or the wire going that connector has worked slightly loose.

As long as the spade terminal is clean and makes a good electrical connection it should be fine.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

I've just fitted an R1 rectifier using the guidance from http://vtr1000f.wickidnet.com/ I differed from the guide by using the bottom bolt hole of the rectifier thus not needing to move the flasher relay and perhaps more importantly, I cut off the plastic plug but kept the spade connectors in tact, making no soldering required. Taped it all up and works perfect. Now just waiting for by blackbird starter and hopefully my battery problems will be a thing of the past.
