XL1000 Heads

Hello
I am getting old and want to detune my Storm .Has anyone any Knowledge of XL1000 cylinder heads?
I know the cams are softer but are the inlet ports smaller? I need to source carbs and heads or a full engine so any info appreciated.

How old is old?

Why not just raise the gearing a bit?

Varadero is EFI so don't know if they would be compatible anyway.
