electrical help
last night the wife said, have you left a light on your bike. looked out the window and could see what looked to be the front/rear indicator on under the cover (not flashing but on) got up this morning to look and the lights had gone off but the battery was now flat. so i popped my spare battery on and tried the storm. ign lights come on, main beam and tail light work but no dip beam, indicators, horn or brake light and the bike wont turn over. battery is fully charged but when i press the start button nothing. now i used the bike last tuesday and parked it up as i do, thinking nothing of it but today when i checked the fuses 3 have blown (not checked the main fuse yet as its started pissing down again) any ideas or anyone else had this problem. i have had a problem with the alarm, not setting so changed the batteries in the fob but its still the same. could the battery dying cause the immobilizer to kick in (Meta alarm) and does the alarm have its own fuse/battery.

Re: electrical help
checked the main 30a fuse and thats ok. i am beginning to think the alarm is causing the problem but cannot understand why the key fob wont do anything

Re: electrical help
had another look, 15a fuse from alarm box blown, so changed it and the alarm box started to get hot and popped the fuse again. looks like it will have to go into my local garage as im crap with electrics

Re: electrical help
It certainly sounds like it's something to do with the alarm seeing as it keeps blowing it's fuse. I know a few others on here have had trouble with alarm/immobilisers in the past and have ended up removing them.

Re: electrical help
cheers mate, i am going to change every fuse and re fit the battery and see what happens. if it pops fuses again then its into the local shop to sort/remove the alarm.

Re: electrical help
sounds like it could be a chaffed wire. I would check the wires to see if there are any breaks in outter cover and it,s letting it short.
The alarm only uses a small amount of power so will get hot before finally blowing a heavy 15 or 30 amp fuse. Try tracing the wires from the alarm first, or disssconect from the battery complety and see if that fixes the problem, if it does then you know for sure its the alarm system thats at fault

Re: electrical help
