Fitted a chainguard today

Fitted a chainguard today so no more chain oil splashes on my legs  God knows what happened to the last one it had. It came with no guard when I bought it. Could the previous owner have had some reason for removing it?

Maybe the previous owner had a rear hugger fitted and removed it before selling it on.

That hugger looks cool. What's it like for fundamental use?
