Springs oil?

Post by Griff1977 »

Hi y'all. Happy Christmas as well.... Anyway!

Been wanting to improve my bikes ride- as when you go hard on the brakes it sometimes feels like the front tyre is soft!! So... Was at NEC in Nov and got talking to a HyperPro guy and was happy with their product and so ordered a front springs kit and a rear spring from them (black not purple). Calsport (from whom I ordered) estimated 2 weeks for del, I still haven't received it but that's due to my choice of rear spring colour apparently, oh well.

My Q is: the front springs kit comes with oil (not sure what wt) but can anybody advise on the best/ideal oil wt or is it individual? Is there a wt to avoid? I don't want it too sporty, just responsive (and a safer feel)- front and rear will be progressive. I've got a local mobile mechanic to help me fit them.

Ta. Griff. :confused

+1.
You could try 145mm gap, but try both and see what it feels like.
And use decent branded fork oil.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Mac and Tony, thanks for that, I will try both gaps. I'll see what oil is supplied by HyperPro- not sure if they do their own or package another brand. Their delivery isn't until mid Jan now- taking the p&ss considering they were estimating 2nd week of Dec, oh well.

And as for you Marty, a nice bottle of Lerida, any variety, will do!! Ta.

Got a feeling they supply Silkolene with their sets, but if it's not up to much try Oilman's selection at Opie Oils. We get a Forum discount, and he has a good selection.
