Fork Legs

Post by Flatline »

I have taken the forks of of the bike

When I lay the fork legs side by side on the bench, one is longer

One slider sticks out further than the other

Compressed them both and they still end up at different lengths

Do they need an overhaul or what?

You might come to that conclusion :!:
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

Yes.
Strip and make sure that the stanchions are the same length.
You might as well renew seals, slider bearings (2 each leg) and oil while your'e there.
If you haven't uprated the springs yet, now's your chance, and check the head bearings as well while the legs are out, because if they need replacing you're most of the way there with the wheel and legs out.

There; that should get you out of the shopping on Saturday.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
