Did at any time during the Firestorm's history did Honda do any changes to the front wheel?
The reason I am asking is that its popular now to replace the 18" front wheel on the CB1000
with the 17" Firestorm wheel.
One of the members on the CB1000 forum heard that after '98 the Firestorm wheel changed!
I used a firestorm wheel on my CB it fitted a treat but I dont know the year, I beleive the wheels originally
came from toni.mon (powder coated silver)
Thanks Rog

Rog, Just because ''Toni'' has recently become a breaker doesn't mean that all Storm bits on here come from him!Soutie wrote:Did at any time during the Firestorm's history did Honda do any changes to the front wheel?

I purchased said wheels from another member (Toby?) a couple of years ago & can not be certain of the year of bike they came from.
I would have called them Grey, but silver sounds nicer I spose, if a little slower!
I take it that they went on ok? Did you fit the rear as well? Pic's would be nice!!
Mac.
Making up since 2007, sometimes it's true...Honest...
Re: Front wheel
Hey Mac
The front went in a treat, no mods at all
The rear was a pain in the butt
In the end I gave up trying to use the FStorm rear and went with a Blackbird rim,
i used the tyre on the wheel you sent me though
Front wheel done

The Blackbird rear rim

Re: Front wheel
You need to tighten the scotoiler cable ties- it'll move around too much with them loose; the oil won't get to the chain.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
Re: Front wheel
Will do mate, I've got some white cable ties that should look a bit neater. Any ideas on a "home made" duel injector as the scottoiler ones are expensive?
Re: Front wheel
I got one for around £20 on eblag.
But I don't think there's much advantage to it, really.
If nothing else you have to readjust it every time you adjust the chain, also the wind as you go along will disturb the drops coming out of it unless it's nearly or actually touching the chain.
I was planning to move mine to the top chain run just behind the sprocket cover; it'll be a permanent position that way and the chain will move less.
Only drawback is that excess lube will fill the sprocket cover and make it gunky, but that happens anyway.
