george whites empire gone pop

Post by chaz »

looks like the empire of George White haS gone to administration /receivership.
George started at Swindon being an ex Swindon Speedway rider then got bigger and bigger. the final straw must have been moving into the big greenhouse on the new site and trying for world domination and British Superbike sponsorship all when there is a recession in the air..
lost the personal touch

Never good to see any company associated with bikes go bang like that. Hope their employees find jobs quickly if the company does fold. How many times do you see this in the bike world, companies getting larger and larger until they burst. Shame.

Yes, when he announced the negative losses on the news the flash chairman's face was a picture.

etc, etc.

He put everyone in the frame, though some thought there was a lack of transparency

anything that has not been paid for from suppliers, manufacturers leather suppliers etc is the property of them still so would be collected with / after consultation with administrators. bikes paid for are owners, subject to proof of ownership. bikes in for repair are owners property as long as bills paid for and proof of ownership. even trade displays are owned by the supplier .
when Taylors went in town, once owners and trade were sorted, the rest was put up for auction to pay creditors. there were about 20 of us waiting and bidding on the lots. one couple bid £12k for the lot and was sold to them. the rest of our bids didnt exist then. fact is they could hve made 20+k but was easier for paperwork to sell in one lot. personally I was bidding on 5 items total £2k tools ramps etc multiply by all of us and more money could have been raised.
if there is an auction you might not get a chance to buy anyway

Shame when any one goes bust it's always the workers who suffer :( didn't someone from here work there? He used to have the GW bit in his banner but the name escapes me.

Yeah there were some very Brownie trousers at the last board meeting. All this talk of not keeping up with the digital age seems they just couldn't focus. F2.8 @ 1000th with 400ASA.

Well, when the business can't make money it's best to shutter.
