Re: Broadband speed
As a p/t website designer/developer I cope with a 10mb Virgin connection approx £14.50 per month - stream purchased apple itunes movies etc no problem - Have a MacPro and PC connected by ethernet directly to a ethernet/WIFI router (*belkin F5D823 £20). Virgin will be upgrading connection later this year to 20mb which will be more than plenty for my business/personal usage.

Unless you have a household perpetually downloading stuff 24/7 wouldn't worry about spending more than necessary. Also Virgin don''t have dl caps, provide reasonable service and didn't dob in customers to ACS:Law in the scandal unlike other providers BT, Sky etc. http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/20 ... tomer-data.
Looking at the Vigin site theupgrade to from a 10 mb to a 30mb connection( > 60 mb) will get you the combined Modem/Router SuperHub so you can ditch your existing Belkin for £18.50 a month with free installation. Though as a existing customer when I try and upgrade to that package through their website it comes up as
£105.00Total one-off costs
£30.00Added to your next month's cable bill
£30.00 Broadband activation
£75.00Pay by credit or debit card now
£75.00 Virgin Media Super Hub

Spoke to them on the phone and they could do 10mb > 30mb (60mb) for an extra £4 a month though they did want to charge me £20 delivery for the free superhub! Asked them to excuse that hidden cost as I had a day last week when I didn't have any broadband service which they duly did.
