changing mileage

Post by bluestoesonnose »

Swapping Km to miles, been going through the bikes history, and note that it's an import that used to be on kms, at some point its had a mph dial fitted but the milage is still km's not miles so it's done 28,000 not the 45,000 shown (all mots back this up) how id I get the milage changed to reflect this?

the mileage is stored in an eeprom in the speedo circuitry.
you need to find someone with a reader / writer and/or the correct software to reset it.
i know someone who can but best not post details in case they object to the publicity - he is still a member here so may see this & pm you....
i got my replacement reset by him after i binned it and got a new speedo with 4x the original mileage showing.

i still have my spare one with low mileage (about 13k)i think....

the problem with yours is it sounds like you have a mph overlay fitted or just the face calibrated to mph, but your odo will still measure & display kms unless you have fitted a mph / miles instrument.

they use the same sensor but the circuitry is different, unlike some other bikes where you can switch between miles & km
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.
