Anyone seen this before

One of my standard cans sounded like it was blowing, for want of a better word. On inspection, I found a phillips screw head in the end of each one, as you might find on aftermarkets with removable baffles. When I took out the screws, it released a metal disc ( Donut ) covering these holes, identical in each silencer. The small hole at the top accomodated the fixing screw, the lower, larger holes ??? Wondered if anyone's come across this before??

Sounds like they've had a bafflectomy, then someone's put blanking discs over the hole to quieten them.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

That helps; now it LOOKS like they've had a bafflectomy, then someone's put blanking discs over the hole to quieten them.

Yes I have seen that before only normally they drill the bigger holes all the way around unlike yours. Then when they find that's not loud enough they use a bigger drill bit  A full bafflectomy as (Tony mentions) is where the complete rear baffle is removed leaving just one big hole 8O. Have a look here:- http://www.burniemorgan.com/motorcycles ... afflectomy

Your can doesn't look exactly like a standard one in the photo, perhaps it's just the way the photo is taken :?:

Standard cans fully de-baffled. Sounds much better than normal IMO.

Have spare set as now running Harris cans. :D
