CCT is this normal?
I replaced the CCTS not too long ago. I used Genuine Honda autos and did the stopper mod which went great!
When running from cold I hear a chattering chain noise. I'm sure I can't hear this when warmed up.
But I can hear the chattering chain noise when at low speed (under 50mph) when in 5th/6th?
I'm pretty sure the noise im describing is not the final drive chain.
Is this normal? And should I be worried?

Does the noise go when you pull the clutch in, because my clutch if friggin noisy.
As for CCTS mine are manuals, and chatter when cold.

It definitely does it with steady throttle in the top gears. A bit like when you know your car needs changinging down a gear when you in the wrong gear type of feelIng (if you know what I mean) exept the vtr copes far better lol.
It's when I'm in top gear going really steady.

Sounds more like drive chain than cam chain, get someone to check when you're sat on the bike that the tension is correct, and the lower chain run isn't touching the link pipe.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Yeah I had this problem on the Triumph speed four, the chain was too tight, tightened it up properly and it was too tight, adjusted it and it was too lose, done my head in and cured it with a new chain and sproketstony.mon wrote:Sounds more like drive chain than cam chain, get someone to check when you're sat on the bike that the tension is correct, and the lower chain run isn't touching the link pipe.

Re: CCT is this normal?
Well Iv been out on it today and come to the conclusion it is the drive chain!
It only makes the chattering sound when in 5th and more so in 6th.
Still does it with the clutch in so thats eliminated the clutch.
I do have a 14t front spocket on which i do love (Know its not the best combination for the chains life, but im not wanting it to last a million years) so i wonder if thats adding to the chattering noise....
Its not a worry to me now i know its not the dreaded cct noise!
Cheers for the pointers guys

One tip for finding odd noises:
Tape a length of aquarium tubing (the soft stuff is good) to the area you think is causing the noise, and tuck the other end under your helmet next to your ear.
You'll be able to hear really clearly whether the noise is coming from that area.
Just move it a few times until you pinpoint the noise.

lol, Thats a good tip Tony! Whilst trying to lean over and pinpoint the noise i would find myself on the wrong side of the road (On a country road with no other traffic then big stupid tractors..... Hummmtony.mon wrote:One tip for finding odd noises:

So the pipe trick would enable you to keep a lookout for oncoming tractors aswel ha!

Re: CCT is this normal?
I don't think it was meant that way
yeh any noises that only occur while riding would be tricky. But if you have some suspect engine noises that need pin pointing at idle or with some revs then it's a good tip if you aint got a mechanics stethoscope.
Have Fun.

I know mate, it's a good way of listening at specific areas whilst rising it.cybercarl wrote:I don't think it was meant that wayyeh any noises that only occur while riding would be tricky.
