No, he found the rim tape on Ebay.

bugger sorry to hear that, i would have thought it could be made to fit, ask the question in the workshop section.
if an R1 r/r can be made to fit then surely a sp jobby can.
in fairness to the advert he doesn't state firestorm, and thats caught me out before......doh!!!!

Could someone with an SP1 have a look at the pin-outs on the RR?

There will be three leads of the same colour coming form the alternator coil, and two or three other leads.
Need to know the red and green positions, and whether you're looking into the plug or the socket when deciding where the colours go.

PlayerOne, is it a five or six pin unit?

That should be easy, then.
The three in a row are the three yellows from the alternator.

One of the others is a ground, the other is a live.

Meter it out to see which one grounds to the base of the unit, that'll be the earth wire.
Put the live feed (probably red or red/white trace) that goes to the battery in the non-ground one.

I'd expect it to be earth to the right as you look at the RR, and live to the left. That's the way is is on Storm ones, anyway.

But looking on t'interweb there seem to be several SP1 RR's pictured, some with a pair of trailing leads going into the body of the unit, and some that just have a plug and socket, like the majority of RR's.
These have an ignition sense connection, so that voltage can't leak away to make heat when the bike's switched off.

I have a feeling that this extra connection is what's needed when using R1/R6 RR's, as mine would charge perfectly but the battery goes flat over a week or so if the bike's unused.

Have a look at this from the RC51 site:
