Time for Baby sitter to start a side line?

I guess it comes down to how much use you'd put it to.

The larger of the Maplins one would do for most people, remember that you can leave parts in for quite a while or have several goes.

I really only have one concern- as these function by using the cavitation effect it will inevitably remove some surface material as well as muck and dirt, so you could increase jet and port sizes without being able to measure what wear, if any, you were putting on the component.

A quick dip wouldn't be an issue, I would have thought, but just to show what I mean; here's what can happen to a boat screw (propeller):

A soak in Carb Cleaner might be kinder.

If it's purely for cleaning carb jets; they're not expensive, why not just fit a new set?
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

I want to clean up the carb bodies as well as the internals. I also thought it would be useful for a variety of other bits & bobs, for instance the TS50x I just re-built had lots of bits that could have gone into the cleaner. I am going to re-build my lads FS1-E soon and the KX80 my kids had needs refreshing ready for my daughters new arrival, so there will be a number of jobs for it. And of course there is the big selling point that the girls jewellery can be cleaned up using it, which of course was my main reason for thinking of purchasing it!!!(Pinochio has nothing on me).
I still intend to buy one, probably with the spoils of my Birthday at the end of the month. If it works all well and good if not expect it to be on E Bay shortly afterward, obviously with a glowing report of how efficient it is.

The problem will be the size of the tank to be honest mate. Small carb bits, calipers shouldn't be an issue but bigger items would be. As for the removal of seals I would think they would only really have to be removed to get as much crap out as possible.

Caliper pistons would be a good one to use it for. Or brake line p clips. Pound coins. Master/slave cylinders. I wonder what it would be like for rearsets :D

RE rubbers marty, I got confused with the chemical dips. Utrasonic cleaner does not require the removal of rubber bits.

I'm just going by that link I posted. I don't know if it will clean rubber or how it will affect them, but it's safe to put rubber into it, where as with the old style chemical dips all rubber parts need to be removed first or they will perish.

I just though using an ultrasonic cleaner you playing with electric and water 8O  nice mix. Check the safety bits/features out on the cheaper (maplin or other brands) style cleaners before purchasing.

Have fun.

Specs wise this is close: http://www.amazon.co.uk/JPL-8050-Profes ... =de_a_smtd

to the Maplin one. But it's half a litre bigger and 5c warmer. But reviews are a mixed bag.

This chappy: http://www.amazon.co.uk/review/R2IZVW54 ... &linkCode=
Cleaned the carbs from his MG. But it didnt bring them shiny.

This chappy: http://www.amazon.co.uk/review/R3MTV3S7 ... &linkCode=
Bought it for his Lawnmower carbs and by all accounts it worked out. Theres also an interesting reply to that about getting shiny shine. Seems its not pissible.

Im quite tempted to order it!

Edit, nevermind, I know see there are 2 at £99 and this IS the maplin one. Given away when I noticed the sellers name on Amazon.

I just bought one from Maplin. 2L tank with heater etc made by a company called James and reduced until close of business tomorrow from £99 to £54. Just in case anyone else wants to take a punt at one.
I will have a go with it over the weekend and post up the results.
