Have just purchased a 1998 storm in yellow from a dealer in peterborough.
It isnt my first storm - had a 1999 model back in 2001 and loved it to bits . Sadly sold it on as was emigrating.
Have missed bikes ever since and only got back into bikes this year. Started of with a xv1100 yamaha -got bored very quickly.
The one I purchased was up for £2095 on ebay with 16k on clocks - full history and all old mots. Yellow with polished frame, swingarm and footrest brackets etc. Braided hoses , dark screen and carbon hugger also on it. Standard exhausts on it - not sure if I want loud cans or not yet - dont want to shed weight and seat height goes up - on stretch limit now!
Loving the performance as it is - not real confident on bikes and have a 450hp car to play with anyway !

Is there any way to tell if manual cam chain tensioners have been fitted from the outside without removing ? Is it best to fit manuals or replace with genuine auto units?

Anybody know of this bike ? would like to find out who polished the frame and who did mods.

Any advice welcome.

oh yes and if you do nothing with them and keep riding it long enough and it nosh,s the front head your cct,s are probably autos.

Welcome to the forum and yes loud cans are a must. I don't think changing the cans will affect the ride height at all. The check to see if you have manuals installed is to see if there is a thread with a locknut on the end. Or post some pics up for us and we will soon tell you. There's no point in replacing them with auto's as they will fail.

Stick around here and you can't go wrong, plenty of advice and guidance and members willing to help out.

welcome aboard buddy, tonys got some loud carbon cans for sale, there nice and cheap, if seat height is an issue, you could always get your seat retrimed, and lose an inch of padding will help

Would be interested in any cheap cans for sale - message me any details. Had g-force cans on my old one - cheap but still good sound !
Car is a ford falcon xr6 turbo - NZ import - where most of my funds seem to end up!
Would be interested in getting a modded seat if anyone has one already done. Dont want to mod this one as bike is in such a good condition - want to keep it that way.

Nice, very nice. That's what you call a car. And the bike looks good as well. Nice and clean and I love the polished frame and wheels.

CCT's: The rear cylinder has for sure got the original Honda auto, you can see it at the back of the engine by the shock. I highly suspect the front is an auto as well if the rear is.

This is what Manual's look like can be diffrent colurs usualy silver or red tho,




Get your self some as the first thing to do, or as soon as you can anyway, not to long of a job and good intructions on site in the work shop section here >

Looks like I will have to get manual tensioners asap - but do they make them in yellow ??? - dont want to make bike slower by fitting the wrong colour !

I loved the way the frame is polished and wheels etc - but a little concerned as the welds on main joint are non existant - hope they were welded very well from factory with good deep penetration!
