Perhaps not the engine just wrong Pillion Passenger??

Out on my bike today and heard it whine. I don't think it's anything to worry about as Alternative VTR said it's just part of the sound of the engine. I seem to be noticing it more now you have mentioned it. :lol:

it also sounds worse when you have fairing lowers on as it gets echoed back up. get a loud exhaust, loud intakes and good earplugs.......what engine whine?

I've got 2 of the 3, whines upto 4k just alot louder when oil is low :oops:
