Joined the forum to get some research under my belt and really learn what all these firestorms are about. Planning on buying on in january as I aim to track the bike for a full year, making the best budget changes as possible and really getting some laptimes down on it before racing it in 2014.
Bit of history about myself;
Im Matty, Im 20 years old.
Raced a pit bike in supermoto when i was 13 to get me used to gears and angles of lean and so on, been brought up around bikes so i know a thing or too by now haha. At the age of 15 going on to 16 I saved my money and bought myself a race prepped Kawasaki KR1s, what a bike, i absolutley loved that bike, it never let me down, it really taught me about corner speed and deep late braking, unfortunatley I couldnt afford to race it that year

With that at 17 I had an rs125 tuono for the road , again another great bike, such good fun and really good condition. After a year i was about to turn 18 so I traded the Kr1s for a mint condition 99 zx6r. Got on with this bike really well, again took it to the track on my 3rd day of riding, took its restrictors out and went to cadwell. this bike was fanatastic did another 3 trackdays and I was really flying.
So i though right come on gets some money together lets go racing. best budget option Thundersport 500, all equal cb500's going at it.
Sold the zx6r to fund it, first 5 rounds i went from 30th, (40 on a grid) and after 5 rounds I was knocking on the door of top tens, i was really flying now, got to grips with the bike but was losing alot of time due to being 6ft 1 and everyone just seemed to be so much smaller.
After the 5 rounds i entered I needed to race again but cheaper still. Kept the 500 and my sponsor kindly loaned me his daytona 675 triumph triple challenge ex race bike. After alot of testing in the wet at cadwell I got my times down to 1.49 dead in the wet after never ridden a 600 in the wet on a trackday. the 500 I was doing 1 min 55's in the wet.
1st round comes along of 2012, first race 675, warmup was 5th fastest. was happy, so away we go on the warm up lap, i arent doing anything major at the goose neck, probs doing 110 leading upto it, down to about 90 and before i know it the back end came around, Hello Mr highside and there we go, 20 years old, mulled bike which cost 2 grand to fix and gave it back and a crack in my pelvis.
AFter playing 14 years of rugby i feel im pretty hardy, 1 hour passes i come out the med centre, gave them they old silly talk, im fine trust me and stuff, dont dare cut my leathers haha but thanks.
I hobble away just with the aid of my dad. Asks if I wanted to race the 500 or go home.....
stuff going home, put the cb500 on 2nd against sv650's and a few 600 steelies. well chuffed. finished the day with 3 podiums and unfortunatley had to be lifted off my bike at the end of the day.
Went to hospital to confirm it had a hairline crack, it was black blue and huge and couldnt walk for a week haha.
And im still clearing debt until january then all the fun starts again
So thats a bit about me, I look forward to chatting with everyone and hopefully buying someones bike and bits

Thanks
Matty
