identifying nuts and bolts

good morning ladies and gents
as some of you may know i'm attempting to rebuild two bikes, now i've made a rookie mistake, in my haste to strip the bikes down, i never labelled/boxed all the different nuts and bolts, so now i have the fun job of figuring out what goes where. over the next couple of weeks i'll be asking you guys for help in finding out what bolt goes where.
heres my first question.
the identical bolts in the following pictures are interesting because of the holes that run thru each bolt. can you tell me what they are for....???

They are the brake line banjo bolts. Attach the brake lines to the callipers or to the master cylinder.

Just make sure the hole sizes are the same size or you'll get an imbalance in the front brake, don't ask how I know...

I don't know about nuts Marty, I think you'll find the correct PC term is 'mentally retarded' or as I prefer 'window licker' ...

After serious consideration, I would guess walnut.

It is difficult to say since the picture is taken bit far away and the furry animal is hiding some of the essential identifying characteristics, but i am quite sure it is walnut.

The bolt pictured here seems to be very typical cloud-to-ground lightning bolt. I would assume it is caused because of some local priest announcing his retirement.

Sorry Trainraider I have to disagree with you there, It is unlikely to be a walnut, as it is the wrong shape & in fact the wrong size in relation to the paws of of the Gray Squirrel (Scirus Carolinensis ). It is more likely to be an Acorn judging by it's colouration, size & shape. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acorn


As for the pictured lightning bolt, the term 'Lightning never strikes twice' is about to proved oh so very wrong, with Marty & his lost nut rebuild conundrum. See his post in sales & wants re subframe nuts...strike two...

mine are allen bolts for all plastics, but would know unless looked at someone elses fairing.

And the fairing bolts are the only ones with a collar to stop over tightening and cracking the plastics.

the bolt head is wrong, they should be allen head, domed and chromed for fairing, tail mounts and front mudgaurd. so I dont know what they are
