On one bitterly cold February morning the engine refused to work and start up. Regardless of whether the clutch was in, it was using the main or reserve tank, no/quarter/half/three-quarter/full choke was used or anything the engine just would not catch, it would try and try but nothing would happen

Sure it wasn't simply flooding?

I can't imagine it flooding as I was using as little choke as I could to avoid that happening. I also left it for an hour 3 times to allow it to rest if it was flooded.... I think it was relating due to the fact it was bitterly cold and thickened the fuel or something maybe?

Maybe if was minus 30-40

Problem is you couldn't take the plugs out at the time to test and ensure any fuel bunging up the system had a good escape route . Still it might now be a good idea to thoroughly test the battery, clean & gap the plugs, clean and protect from moisture all the electrical connections. Check airfilter. In other words give it a good service.

This is fundamental to vehicle ownership > Regular maintenance is critical to ensure the safety, reliability, rideability, comfort and longevity of a bike. Wether it be a CB or VTR or even a Puch Maxi... think of motorcycle maintenance as essential foreplay before the ride begins ;-)

Do you plan to practice regular preventative maintenance on the VTR or wait till things go wrong leaving you stranded and then fix? Treat the CB as a dress rehearsal to the pleasures and responsibilities of owning & riding the Super Storm.

When I get the VTR I won't be in education with deluded teachers and I will have the time to perform the maintenance the bike requires. Whereas now all I can manage is school and home/coursework during the week and on weekend continuing with the coursework. It's stupid because the exam board set you up to fail on purpose
