Deffo more money about nowadays. Back in the 80's, most families could only afford one car between the whole family and I can't remember anyone owning a car and a bike at the same time. The biking community was much closer back then for sure. It's easy to fall into the trap though of letting nostalgia tint everything a rosy glow and forget the bad parts. I remember clipping my ankle or knee on the engine when kick starting and it hurt like hell. I also remember my knee aching with pain kick starting a stubborn bike. Another memory is that the AA and RAC cost a fortune so few bikers were with them and had to carry out their own repairs at the side of the road just to get home. You could always rely on other bikers stopping to help though!

Don't think of it as "ganged up on" or "bullying". It's more like multiple joined up terms of endearment :P

Hey All

I remember when etc etc etc........................zzzzzzzzzzzzz..............

CB50J 30MPH max speed, kin slow but great independance and the only bike I have owned from new.
KH 250 Great bike
S3 ( KH400 )
Z1000 MK2. Bought when I was 19 and kept for 10 years, wish I could find another.
Harris Magnum GSX 1260. Great bike, wish I could have kept it.
XS650 Skint and built from bits
GPz 750 Still skint and built from bits.
GSXR1100 H Streetfighter, Great bike
BSA Bantam 1968
VMax for a short while, accident waiting to happen.
Harris Laverda, long term (12 years ) rolling project and love it.
Storm bought a few months back, impressed so far other than the pathetic light.

I'm 50 now and have only gone one year since I was 16 without a bike and it hurt. I can identify with a lot of what's been said here, it was if the black leather jacket was a right of passage.

Cheers
Matt
