First inlet valve had a gap of 5 thou and a shim of 77.5 thou

second inlet valve had a gap of 4 thou and a shim of 76.5 thou

anyone know the replacement shims ie 2.125 , to get them both matching to 6 thou

Do you have a calculator? 1 thou = 0.0254mm

Sorry that is not meant to be a stroppy answer, having looked at it it looks a bit basic, but it should help you work it out

40 thou' in a mm, best to work backwards, .5mm - 20thou, .25mm - 10thou, .1mm - 4thou etc

Remeasure it in metric, and follow Haynes. It's good enough for this job.
But converting it to thou and back again is only going to lead to errors.
Tried it once, once was enough.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

I agree with Tony, can you not get hold of a metric set of feeler gauges :?: I use the angled type as I find them easier to get an accurate reading.

or

or just get a well branded type like Draper, Stanley or something. There's loads on the market but stick to more named brands as they are likely to be more accurate.

hi lee.
first inlet valve, you need shim size 1.81mm = 71thou.
second inlet valve, you need shim size 1.79 = 70.5 thou.

you have at the moment 1.97mm = 77.5 thou and 1.95mm = 76.5 thou.
inlet valve's are plus or minus 0.16mm+ 0.03mm- hope this help's.
or you can write down, your shim's and clearance size's and pay a visit to your local honda dealer. and ask the nice man behind the counter to work it out for you. or one of the mechanic's.take your shim's with you,as some place's will exchange from old service stock ( most mechanic's keep all the old shim's after service's ) so you may save yourself a few quid? good luck. hope you get sorted
