better battery

Post by burty »

Ive got a 2000 storm all standard apart from viper cans i want to improve starting a wee tad it`s got a nearly new battery and spends a fair bit of time plugged into an optimate i don`t get to use it much but it`s regularly started and run up to temp but as they all do when your sitting at lights etc they just throw in the towel and cut out and more than once it`s come close to killing the battery to kick it over again is there a bigger capacity battery that fits or any other bit`s to improve things i set the tick over at 1300rpm and the rectifier is pumping out 14v at low revs and around 12.5 to 13ish volts at higher revs so all seems well the engine has only done 15k and the bike runs as sound as a dollar pound i`m just after giving it a bit more umph whilst turning over if poss.

extra terminals, nice if you want to run a smart charger....
great battery, i didn't run my bike for 8wks and it still started first time, the only negative is that you will need to take off the battery lid/cover as its a tight fit.
HEY YOU GUYS!!!!!!

Yep, spins up nicely

You have to leave off the battery cover

You may want to check your stater motor connection for corrosion as this will slow the cranking speed. http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic ... 31&t=20849

+1 on the motobatt battery...spins the motor nice n fast even when the temp drops into the minuses...the xtra terminals come in handy too but as already said you have to remove the cover as it's a tad bigger than the standard battery....
