"holiday" riders

Post by callam_nffc »

Hello chaps,

Back from my little jaunt around Majorca/Ibiza and got some snaps of bikes that i simply dont recognize for you all to have a bit of a guess at what they are

but im still in shock of how people ride over there/what they wear to ride

It seems like essential bike gear consists of an open face helmet, shorts, maybe a vest too, no gloves and as for shoes, well some had flip-flops, some I kid you not, wore nothing on their feet :eek2

Imagine coming off at 30mph in nothing more than a pair of shorts and sh1t helmet, crazy b8stard! Its not like they even ride defensively

Fair point, however George Michael managed to tumble along the M1 at 70mph without any protective gear whatsoever and he only picked up a few bumps and bruises. ;-)

Most of the people who hire scooters etc in Majorca probably never rode one before in their life (or since their last time on hol anyway) so don't know what damage can be done in a crash. That said, I'll happily wear whatever I like if I rent a bike on hol and just ride accordingly. Your safety (or lack of) is mainly in your hands.

I have ridden my storm in a T shirt and Croks  Not for long though, only when whipping down the road for a quick test ride after doing some work on it. It just does not feel right in croks.

I've no idea how anyone rides in an open face helmet. All that wind in yer eyes is bloody annoying

if your going to go out an caine it, full leathers ,without a doubt nip to the shops at 30 t shirt and shorts if you want we are the only country that uses full gear its my skin if i want to risk it i ought to have the right to do so if we aint careful the nanny state will make it complulsary and to be fair i can go downhill on a pushbike at town speeds and you wouldnt wear leathers on a pushbike would you

If you look at what people who are into downhill mountainbiking wear, the armour is generally more than what you would wear on your motorbike lol

We've all done the riding in a tshirt thing and hopefully don't have any marks to show for it

last year I managed to roll a quad bike, luckily on sand but ive still got several scars from it

Yeah but to be fair they do some ballsy stuff. Inches away from trees and 10+ ft drop offs. I'd want to be wearing a matress to do that.

Haha that's a good point :)

well virt I was getting more and more cocky getting it to drift around corners, until on my second to last lap it decided to grip mid-drift and threw me sideways, followed by rolling on top of me haha
