GSX R 750 (2001) or VTR

Post by stu9000 »

Ok,
see thread "crash bounce bugger" for details of how my much loved VTR T boned a White van.

However, with it being his liability there were several loan companies desperate to lend me a bike for the mean time.

So I traded them off against each other, first offer being a Hornet, then a Bandit, eventually settling on a GSX R 750, mint condition, sticky Mich Pilots and oodles and oodles of get up and go.

Its unbelievably intuative with a great front end that feels like it'll never go.
Id probably think about getting one but it spins up soooo easy im having real problems keeping remotely close to the speed limit.

Did a little Endo at the lights the other day
It felt sooo goood.
If I had six months on this baby I reckon Id be knee down, front wheel in the air and all the rest.

BUT, not sure about the blue n white. :x (altho the lines are baaad, meaning good)
V Twins sound better 8)
Ill end up losing my licence. 8O

So,,,, question for the reader...

given the choice would you choose our old friend the VTR:roll:
or the bad boy GSX R 8O
red is the fastest colour;)

I think we've all made that decision already...
If you ate yourself would you become twice as big or simply disappear?

I have got a gsxr 600 and a VTR. Depends what kind of mood i am in really. Point to point the GSXR is quicker, through the bends and when you keep it in the power band. But you have to want to go fast and work at it. The VTR lets you rumble along and at the flick of the wrist you are really moving.

I love the noise of the VTR but for a post Motogp inspired thrash, it has to be the GSXR 8O 8O 8O

Sorry if that offends

Vtr, got to be. Its easy to ride quick and forgiving to a point. The GSXR is manic and will spit you off given half the chance. Plus gixxers are getting attention from the plod more and more due to the hooligan element riding them. The gixxers a toy, the vtr's a tool.

Well,,,

having been a month without my VTR, riding the GSXR and then a Bandit (yes I know) its been interesting getting back on my bike again.

GSXR's cornering blew me away.
The Bandit's just a pizza delivery vehicle.

Getting back on the VTR, it felt lower, more flickable and once I put the Leo Vinci cans back on it sounded the Dawgs bollox.
It has its faults ( I might try putting on Fireblade forks one day) but shes beautiful to look at, sounds great, is fun to ride with all the power i need while holding onto my licence.

Ill be keeping it for a long time to come i think.
