I have just cooked myself a whole Sea Bass from Brixham. Stuffed it with Tarragon and a bit of lemon grass, squeezed half a lemon and lime over it all wrapped in foil, cooked on griddle pan for 20mins. Yum Yum. :Hungry:

And all I did was make pasta and some spicy sauce. The one day I don't put any effort into cooking..

It's not often I get a bit a fish like that. Virt did you make your own source or is it one of those off the shelf jars. I make my own pasta source. I have even made my own pasta in the past a few times, but that is a bit of a faff.

Mmmm maybe we need a cooking and recipe thread.

Made it myself. I love cooking and making food, I'm very domesticated  I even come house trained :p

It's just a pain in the butt as my brother only eats sh1t that you stick in the oven for 40 minutes. No matter how hard I try, he won't eat real food. And he can't cook for himself as he genuinely doesn't know how to turn the oven on. He's gonna have fun when I move out in a couple years

I think cooking should have a greater emphasis at school. I like getting home from a stressful day at work, and just engrossing myself in mashing sh1t together :p

I'm impressed virt well done   and I totally agree that more emphasis should me made on cooking with fresh produce in schools. I had it as an option and then went to Westminster catering college for a year as I wanted to be a pro chef at one stage. But it was a case of if you can't stand the heat get out the kitchen, plus I found out what chefs get paid. But like yourself I enjoy cooking at home for myself or even better for others. Sometimes I go into Keith Floyd mode and open a bottle of wine at the same time. But when I'm in the kitchen everyone else has to get out and let me crack on with it.

Why does everyone expect me to be an idiot capable of nothing?

I would've loved to become a chef or something too, but I don't deal well with heat unfortunately due to some crappy skin condition. Kinda dampened my spirits about it

Just never have one of my curries, there's always an extra chilli... Or two... sometimes 3

But all we did at school was microwave food... Really grinded my gears, this is why we have a greater amount of larger people. Proper nutrition and dieting isn't common knowledge, whatever happened to meat and 2 veg meals ?

Why spoil a nice dinner with wine? Cider works best.. Especially if you marinade pork chops in Pear cider... Mmm...

Supermarkets killed it all. Bring back the local high st butchers, grocers, bakers etc. Oh and both parents having to go to work killed it so convenience foods take over. How do the traditions get handed down otherwise.

I like a bit of chilli, hot and spicy. But I don't eat meat apart from Chicken and the odd Bacon buttie. A few Blueberries in pasta source work well along with a pinch of Cayenne pepper, I found that out experimenting. I generally don't stick to recipes and juts grab what's available in the cupboards and make things up. I like to experiment.

OK that's enough cooking for one night.

I guess. It's £1 at asda for a toad in the hole meal, or a pizza... That's 2 nights a week of cooking for my brother  Whereas a nice meal will cost at least thrice that  It's like at school, there were all these awareness things on "Eating Healthy".. You could pay £1.85 and get a healthy pizza (it was tiny) or 50p and get a mahoosive chocolate muffin. Which would you go for? (but we're all sensible obviously )

I like chilli, but usually enter some sort of bravado contest with my mates and turns into who can eat the most before dying slowly and painfully. It's nice being young  Not even eating a nice Lamb Tikka Massala or something? Best use of meat ever. Although I agree with you on recipes, I'll usually stick to the recipe the first one or two times I make a dish.. Then after finding out what's missing I go nuts (and pour in the chilli!!!). I just need to get good at baking, I'm useless at it

Also, no such thing

Well having the little Kwak running again, and having to run it in, plus the nice weather.....I spent a happy hour riding it round country lanes at 40 mph in shorts, t-shirt, open face helmet and shades.

That was very liberating :D

That's cool 8)

While wearing my Gortex bike jacket today I got very hot and sweaty. I'm thinking of maybe buying an armoured vest type jacket for this kind of weather.
