Rin wrote:Thanks. It moved relatively easily with one squirt of the dreaded WD40. i shall leave it in the dipped position for now and test it to see if it really has dipped the light, before exploring further. I am sure its just a result of sitting in a garage and not being used. Nothing worse.
Ok, having squirted WD40 in there, you now have old Vaseline, that's caked up with dirt, since the switch isn'r even close to waterproof, all solved in WD40, which is oil based... And on it's own will "protect" for a short while... End result, once the solved Vaseline dries up again since the WD40 can't create a film with the dirt in there, you get an even thicker crust of old Vaseline and dirt... Presto, the problem is back, in 2-3 months...

So yourself a favor, open it up, clean it, and re-seal it with fresh Vaseline, that holds for about 2-3 years, where as cleaned and lubed with WD40 lasts six months if you are lucky...

I've not tried this, but if you fitted a grease nipple and pumped it full of dielectric grease, it might help....
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
