Newbie wants advice on downpipe oxidation

Post by davey_n »

New 'storm purchased, put 600 miles on it and well impressed (Last bike VFR 800)
Anyone have any advice about removal of blueing on downpipe at front (and under bike) due to heat?

Would you:

a) polish it off regularly?

b) polish it off about once every six months?

c) stop worrying about it and just ride the f**king thing!!

My missus has a job keeping the pipes on her early Hornet in good shape, they changed the plating on later models to stay looking new for longer. However, the shiny bits are an impotant part of the whole Hornet thing. What are your thoughts on the downpipe colour on a 'storm? I think the blue quite matches the bike.....

I've just started polishing my complete system using Autosol. So far taken a good few hours to do about half the exhaust but achieved a mirror finish.

Spoil all that effort.

Ps. Obviously I vote :C, unless very bored & wet.
Have fun & Ride Safe.

Not too bothered 'bout the weather. Got a ZXR750 and a tin top for the rain. Storm for Sunday best.
