There's a good chance his bike will be sold and I shall be building the Spondon ready for the London run. And if I was coming then I wouldn't be spending the money on my bike then... so might as well risk riding mine and hope the chain don't snap or exhaust falls off.

as much as i'd love to offer my bike to carl, i'm afraid its sold and will be gone in a few weeks, i'm trying to ride it as little as possible, i don't want to tempt fate.....
i'm sure carl has thought long and hard about this, he's been talking about the wales trip for ages, i think his head has over ruled his heart, which is probably the right choice.
HEY YOU GUYS!!!!!!

that has to be our goal in both groups, its not fun when a rider goes down on a run, especially when you are leading :(

the key with the marker system is that everybody can ride inside their comfort zone, and MUST NOT feel pressured to keep up incase they get left behind and lost..........we all need to be prepped for bad weather and the fatigue that sets in after a long day in the saddle, and dont be afraid to say that its time to call it a day and head home.

we can use the first 90 miles to Bala to work out which group works for you, and then even in the progressive group there will be easy exit points where we can decide to cut the ride down in lenght and head back to camp. either as individuals or as a group.

we just need to have fun and enjoy the weekend :D

Yeah very true, though I definitely feel that the leisurely group will have riders that are very cautious when overtaking, and that tends to slow everything down, whereas the progressive group will have riders simply wanting to ride all day and have fun.

Personally I find that I get quite frustrated when stuck behind other bikes sitting behind cars on nice roads when I want to be riding faster, which is why I will ride in the progressive group. My bike simply isn't comfortable for bimbling around at 50-60mph.

As has been said the main point is that everyone have a SAFE ride and no one do anything they aren't comfortable with. You must ride your own ride in either group.

From reading everyones comments about being stuck behind riders that don't overtake, it's making me think of pulling out

Sorry, I didn't mean to confuse the groups, I understand the groups objectives from your first post explaining how it all goes down on the weekend, I guess I just slipped into the phrase "fast & slow" :(

My original question was just to see how leisurely the leisurely group was, but has been well explained to me now and I think it's the group for me, as my rear is going to be sore after Fridays stint. Good breaks and scenery will be just the job :)

Cheers

Virt I don't mind sitting behind you, Lloydie tells me you do a great slow motion promiscuous life saver look over your shoulder with your luscious long hair flowing in the 5mph breeze :D

Nah don't even consider pulling out, my comments were a reflection of how I get when I get stuck, which is why I have opted for the other group. Lots of riders are much more patient than me and won't give a crap about how fast or slow they are going. I honestly dont think you have anything to worry about.

In all honesty though, how slow can that bike be? Sarah's 125 had only like 13 hp, and that would do 60mph easily, even up hill, it would do 70 on the flat without really trying and 80mph down hill. Yes it was hard to overtake, but surely your bike has nearly 3 x the amount of power, it should piss 80 on the flat no?
